Denmark's Health Authority Issues Heat‑Wave Safety Guidance
The Danish Health Authority (Sundhedsstyrelsen) advised the public to protect against the upcoming nationwide heat wave by staying in the shade, wearing loose‑fitting, light clothing, and limiting alcohol consumption. It also recommends drinking plenty of water, consuming salty foods, and looking out for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children and infants.
The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) issued a warning covering most of the country from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening, with temperatures expected to exceed 30 °C in many areas and possibly reach 35 °C on Saturday and Sunday. High humidity will make the heat feel even stronger, and the authority warned that heat‑stroke symptoms can include headache, dizziness, rapid pulse, reduced urine output and impaired coordination.
