Denner undergoes leadership shakeup as several executives depart
Denner, a subsidiary of Migros, is undergoing significant leadership changes as several executives with backgrounds at the discount retailer Lidl depart the company. Most recently, Marketing Chief Raphael Werner announced his departure after two years, shortly after receiving a ‘Best Marketing Officer of the Year’ award.
This follows a series of exits from high-level positions. Former CEO Torsten Friedrich resigned in April after approximately one year, reportedly due to disagreements with Migros regarding the company's strategic direction and the centralization of procurement processes. Other notable departures include Sales Chief Christian Staub and former Purchasing Chief Sascha Göbels, both of whom previously held roles at Lidl.
While Denner has stated that personnel decisions are made based on facts and that former employers do not play a role, industry observers suggest the company is shifting away from the Lidl-influenced management style. A spokesperson confirmed that the Marketing and Digital departments are being restructured. The company reportedly aims to return to its roots by positioning itself more directly against competitors like Migros, Aldi, and Lidl through competitive pricing and optimized procurement.
