Dennis Haskins, ‘Saved by the Bell’ actor, dies at 75

American actor Dennis Haskins, widely recognized for his role as Principal Richard Belding on the iconic 1990s sitcom ‘Saved by the Bell’, has died at the age of 75. His death was confirmed by his longtime agent, Jay Schachter, who described the passing as a ‘tragic loss’ and noted Haskins’ deep affection for his fans.

Haskins passed away on a Sunday night at an assisted-living facility in Burbank, California. While an official cause of death has not been released, reports from associates indicated that he had been privately battling Parkinson’s disease for approximately eight years, a condition he reportedly kept out of the public eye to avoid unwanted attention.

Born in 1950 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Haskins’ career was defined by his portrayal of the Bayside High principal. He appeared in the character's various iterations, including ‘Good Morning, Miss Bliss’ and ‘Saved by the Bell: The New Class’. Beyond the franchise, his credits included appearances in ‘Mad Men’, ‘How I Met Your Mother’, and ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’.
