Dennis Haskins, ‘Saved by the Bell’ star, dies of Parkinson’s

Dennis Haskins, the actor best known for portraying Principal Richard Belding on the sitcom ‘Saved by the Bell’, has died at age 75. A death certificate obtained from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirms that Parkinson’s disease was the primary cause of death.

Haskins passed away on September 27 at the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California. The document also listed other significant health conditions, including depression, hypertension, irritable bowel syndrome, and benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Reports indicate that Haskins had privately battled Parkinson’s disease for approximately eight years, often keeping his diagnosis away from the public eye and even from close friends and family. His agent, Jay Schachter, described the loss as ‘tragic’, noting that Haskins ‘absolutely LOVED his fans’.

In addition to his iconic role on ‘Saved by the Bell’ and its spinoff ‘The New Class’, Haskins appeared in various television productions such as ‘The West Wing’, ‘Mad Men’, and ‘How I Met Your Mother’. Former co-stars have shared tributes on social media, remembering him as a kind and steady presence.
