Dennis Martin Flaherty, retired Marine Corps Master Sgt., dies at 86

Retired U.S. Marine Corps Master Sgt. Dennis Martin Flaherty passed away on March 30, 2026, at the age of 86 in Gardnerville, Nevada. Born in Portland, Maine, Flaherty served a 23-year military career that included two tours in Vietnam in 1965 and 1968.

During his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” for heroism and valor. Following his military retirement, Flaherty returned to Maine, where he worked at Seven Maple Farm and later served as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 20 years.

He was a member of several veterans’ organizations, including the American Legion, VFW, and AMVETS.
