Denny Hamlin maintains composure despite points deficit in NASCAR Chase

NASCAR Cup Series driver Denny Hamlin stated he is not yet ready to panic regarding his championship prospects, despite falling 49 points behind leader Kyle Larson. After a strong regular season, Hamlin has struggled during the first six races of the Chase, failing to secure a win and losing his initial points advantage.

Heading into the race at Phoenix Raceway, Hamlin noted that while he can “see” the panic button, he intends to focus on making small gains rather than attempting “Hail Marys” too early. His performance this weekend is considered critical; if his deficit to Larson increases, Hamlin indicated he may need to alter his approach for the remaining races at Talladega, Martinsville, and Homestead-Miami.
