Denny Hamlin overcomes brake issues to finish fifth in Iowa Corn 350

Denny Hamlin secured a fifth-place finish at the Iowa Corn 350 despite significant mechanical setbacks. The NASCAR Cup Series leader faced recurring brake issues that began during Saturday practice at Iowa Speedway and resurfaced by Lap 3 of the race.

In addition to the brake failure, Hamlin’s No. 11 Progressive Toyota was forced to start from the rear of the field after his team made an unapproved adjustment to the cooling unit. Hamlin stated that his primary objective shifted from competing for a win to simply surviving the race and finishing within the top 25.

Despite these challenges, the Joe Gibbs Racing team managed to adapt the car to help Hamlin navigate the lack of stopping power. Hamlin enters the current standings at the top with 886 points, while Tyler Reddick remains in second place with 802 points.
