Denpasar Immigration Detention Center transfers 17 foreign nationals

The Denpasar Immigration Detention Center in Bali has transferred 17 foreign nationals to various provinces across Indonesia between January and September 2026. The move is intended to reduce operational costs.

According to Teguh Mentalyadi, Chief of the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center, the transfers are part of a management mechanism based on operational needs. Detainees were moved to facilities in Jayapura, Jakarta, Kupang, and Makassar. The individuals transferred include nationals from countries such as Russia, Israel, Algeria, Moldova, Nigeria, Estonia, Uganda, Senegal, Afghanistan, the Philippines, Belarus, and Türkiye.

Most of the detainees were held for violating immigration regulations, specifically overstaying permits or involvement in security and public order disturbances. While the Jimbaran-based facility has a capacity for 80 people, the current budget for meals only covers 30 detainees, with an allocation of Rp39,000 per person for three meals a day. The center currently houses 25 foreign nationals.
