Dense fog disrupts traffic in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack experienced the first dense fog of the season on Saturday morning. Visibility dropped significantly between 5 am and 7 am, with some areas reporting visibility as low as 150 metres.

The weather conditions caused disruptions to vehicular movement on major routes, including National Highway-16, Cuttack’s Ring Road, Nandankanan Road, and Bhubaneswar’s Uttara Chhak. Motorists were observed driving at reduced speeds using fog and hazard lights to navigate the low-visibility conditions.

Experts attribute the fog to high atmospheric humidity combined with a recent drop in nighttime temperatures following the passage of cyclone Arnab. The temperature decline has also brought a mild chill to the region, signaling the onset of the winter season.
