Dental Bonding and Porcelain Veneers Compared for Chipped Teeth Repair

Dental bonding restores a chipped tooth by applying a tooth‑colored composite resin directly to the damaged area, sculpting it to replace missing structure. The resin is cured with a light, the procedure usually takes 30 to 60 minutes per tooth and requires little or no removal of healthy enamel. Porcelain veneers, by contrast, are thin ceramic shells fabricated in a lab to cover the front surface of the tooth. Installing veneers involves removing a thin layer of enamel and typically requires two appointments – one for tooth preparation and impressions, and another for bonding the finished veneer.

In Manhattan, New York, Invisalign aligners are used to correct uneven tooth wear caused by bite imbalances, grinding, or acid erosion. While Invisalign can improve alignment, it cannot rebuild enamel that has already been lost; restorative options such as bonding, veneers, or crowns are needed after the orthodontic phase to restore tooth shape and length.
