Dental health initiatives launched in Girón and Talca
In Girón, Santander, the ‘Ruta de la Sonrisa’ program has provided free oral care to 720 children across 24 neighborhoods over the last seven months. The municipal initiative targets children aged two to twelve, offering dental check-ups, prophylaxis, and fluoride application through mobile teams from the Clínica Girón. The program aims to address difficulties in accessing timely appointments and promote hygiene habits to combat high national rates of childhood caries.
Meanwhile, the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Talca in Chile is conducting the ‘Odontotón’ solidarity campaign. Running until November 6, the initiative offers low-cost dental hygiene services to the public. All proceeds from the campaign are donated to the Teletón Foundation to support the rehabilitation of its users. The program involves voluntary participation from students, faculty, and staff.
