Dental implant sales double in Austria since 2019
The number of dental implants sold in Austria has more than doubled, reaching roughly 245,000 in 2025 compared with about 115,700 in 2019, a rise of over 100%. This estimate comes from Innsbruck startup IMPROIC using data supplied by market leader Straumann Group, which reports the implant penetration rate rising from 100‑110 per 10,000 adults in 2019 to 220 per 10,000 in 2025.
Austria now ranks among the most penetrated European markets, while Israel and South Korea hold the highest worldwide implant numbers. A similar boom is noted in Germany, where sales grew from around 800,000 in 2010 to about 1.3 million in 2022. About 20 % of implants develop chronic inflammation that can cause implant loss. Official statistics are unavailable because procedures are mostly privately funded and not recorded by the social insurance system.
