Dentist Emelly de Lima e Silva dies in SP-310 motorcycle crash
24‑year‑old dentist Emelly de Lima e Silva was involved in a severe motorcycle accident on Thursday, 30 March, at kilometre 164 of the Washington Luís highway (SP‑310) near Santa Gertrudes, São Paulo. Authorities said a tarp lying on the road became tangled in her bike, causing her to lose control and be struck by a truck.
She was rescued by highway‑service crews, taken first to Hospital Nossa Senhora de Lourdes in Rio Claro and then to the private Santa Casa facility, where she remained in critical condition. Emelly died three days later, on Monday, 3 April. Her body was transferred to the Rio Claro medical‑legal institute, and a funeral service was held on 5 April at Memorial Park Villa Real, also in Rio Claro.
