Dentist dies in Brazil and teenager wakes during wake in Guatemala

In Acre, Brazil, 28-year-old dentist Jaqueline de Melo Silva died following a sudden heart attack. After seeking treatment at a local health unit for abdominal pain and receiving medication, she was discharged. However, she soon experienced renewed distress and was taken to the Hospital Regional do Juruá, where she passed away. Silva had a history of gastric issues and previous surgeries. The Acre State Health Secretariat stated she was evaluated and medicated before discharge, noting that current information does not indicate medical negligence.

In Guatemala, a 15-year-old girl named Yuleidy regained consciousness during her own wake in the community of El Jocote. Her father, Abraham Ixcotoyac Tojin, believed she had died after she lost consciousness and appeared to stop breathing while being transported for medical care. Because she had not been examined by a doctor, no death certificate was issued. The teenager reportedly woke up and moved inside her coffin, alerting her mother, Lesbia de Ríos, during the ceremony.
