Dentist saves Flydubai pilot after cockpit attack
A Georgian-Israeli dentist, Shota Musaev, played a critical role in saving the life of a captain during a violent incident on Flydubai flight FZ1073, traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv. The incident involved an Omani co-pilot who attacked the captain with a knife in the cockpit.
Musaev reported that upon hearing screams, he rushed toward the cockpit to confront the attacker alongside other passengers. After the attacker was restrained and bound, Musaev discovered the captain, Smith Machari, suffering from severe bleeding from wounds to his head and hands. As the only doctor on board, Musaev was able to stop the bleeding.
During the struggle, the aircraft experienced a sudden and massive loss of altitude, causing significant distress among passengers. Control of the aircraft was eventually regained by another pilot, allowing the plane to land safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. The injured captain was handed over to local medical personnel and is reported to be in stable condition with no further threat to his life.
