Dentists warn of illegal dental practices in Buenos Aires Province
The Superior Council of the College of Dentists of the Province of Buenos Aires (COSUCOBA) has issued a warning regarding the proliferation of illegal dental practices. Unqualified individuals without university degrees or professional licenses are increasingly offering services through social media and informal advertising, often promising lower costs during economic difficulties.
Diego Biscioni, president of the College, warned that these unauthorized treatments pose severe health risks, including serious infections, tooth loss, and irreversible injuries. The entity also highlighted more critical long-term consequences, such as chronic lesions from poorly fitted prosthetics and oncogenic risks, where persistent tissue damage can contribute to oral cancer.
While these illegal practices were historically concentrated in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA), the phenomenon is now expanding into other localities throughout the province. Authorities urge the public to verify professional licenses via the official registry to ensure compliance with academic, legal, and biosafety standards.
