Dentsply Sirona reports return to profit despite sales dip and stock lows
Dentsply Sirona has reported a return to profitability in the second quarter of 2026, posting a net income of $37 million, or $0.18 per share, compared to a $45 million loss in the previous year. Despite the profit swing, net sales decreased by 4.1% to $898 million, driven by soft demand for large-scale dental equipment. However, the company saw improved margins, with GAAP gross margin widening to 54.9%, and operating cash flow more than doubling to $99 million.
The company’s performance reflects a turnaround effort involving cost-cutting and management restructuring. While the cyclical equipment sector has faced challenges due to cautious spending, the consumables segment remains more stable.
On the stock market, Dentsply Sirona (NASDAQ: XRAY) recently hit a 52-week low, trading as low as $9.35. Analyst sentiment is mixed; while some firms like Barrington Research have set higher price objectives, others such as BMO Capital Markets and Barclays have issued more conservative ratings or lowered price targets.
