Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix faces scrutiny amid offensive struggles

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix is facing intense scrutiny following a period of offensive regression. Despite a 4-2 season record, the team's passing offense has dropped to 28th in the NFL, with Nix's passer rating falling from 87.8 last season to 79.4 in 2026.

Reports suggest that changes in offensive terminology during the offseason, when Davis Webb served as offensive coordinator, may have contributed to Nix's struggles. Since Sean Payton reclaimed play-calling duties, the team has reverted to previous terminology, though the transition has been a point of debate among fans and analysts.

Nix's performance has drawn sharp criticism from analysts, including Ryan Fitzpatrick, who suggested Nix's play was “almost disrespectful to the quarterback position.” These comments prompted a defense from former player Aqib Talib.

Coach Sean Payton has expressed full confidence in Nix, stating there are no plans for a quarterback change. Payton attributed the offensive difficulties to broader issues, including the need for improved offensive line play and better rushing balance.
