Denver Broncos face injury, legal, and roster challenges

The Denver Broncos are facing several roster challenges ahead of the regular season involving player performance, injuries, and legal issues.

Following a preseason victory against the Minnesota Vikings, head coach Sean Payton publicly defended quarterback Bo Nix. Payton responded to Fox Sports analyst Geoff Schwartz, who suggested Nix lacked the ability to push the ball downfield, by telling Schwartz to ‘watch the tape’ and criticizing the analyst’s work ethic.

On the injury front, wide receiver and return specialist Marvin Mims Jr. left the preseason finale with a foot injury after a collision. Mims was seen heading to the medical tent and locker room, leaving his status for the regular season in question.

Additionally, the team is bracing for a potential league suspension of defensive lineman Jonathon Cooper. Cooper is facing legal proceedings related to alleged domestic violence incidents. The Broncos are seeking clarity from the NFL regarding the timing of any disciplinary action to avoid roster management complications, such as losing a player to waivers or being forced to cut another player to accommodate a suspension.
