Jonathon Cooper placed on NFL Commissioner's Exempt List

Denver Broncos linebacker Jonathon Cooper has been placed on the NFL Commissioner’s Exempt List following two arrests in June involving allegations of domestic violence and strangulation. While on the list, Cooper will receive his game checks and is permitted to attend team meetings and training facilities, but he is barred from practicing or playing in games.

Cooper pleaded not guilty to the charges in a Douglas County courtroom, and a jury trial has been scheduled for November 10. The NFL is currently investigating the situation, and Cooper could face a significant suspension under the league’s domestic violence policy. If suspended, he may be required to repay the salary earned while on the exempt list.

In response to Cooper’s absence, the Broncos are adjusting their roster and defensive lineup. General Manager George Paton stated that the team is taking the matter seriously and will monitor legal developments. Defensive players Jonah Elliss and Que Robinson are expected to take on larger roles in the Broncos' pass rush during Cooper's absence.
