Denver Broncos' Matt Henningsen suffers second Achilles tear, out for season

Defensive lineman Matt Henningsen of the Denver Broncos tore his opposite Achilles tendon during a training‑camp practice, a second season‑ending injury in as many years. The injury occurred just one day before the anniversary of his first Achilles rupture, which forced him to miss the entire 2025 season. Henningsen, a 2022 sixth‑round draft pick who played in all 34 regular‑season games in his first two years, spent 2024 on the Broncos’ practice squad after being waived. The new tear means he will miss the 2026 season and will enter free agency next year.

The Broncos had hoped Henningsen could contribute after a strong showing in camp, but the back‑to‑back injuries have left the team without one of its reliable depth players on the defensive line.
