Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix returns to OTAs after ankle surgery

Quarterback Bo Nix, who broke his right ankle on the final play of the Broncos' AFC Championship game last season, has begun attending Organized Team Activities. After undergoing surgery and a follow‑up procedure, Nix was seen on the field wearing Broncos gear, throwing passes while still wearing a cast. Coach Sean Payton said Nix is “throwing” and is expected to have a larger role by the upcoming minicamp.

While Nix continues his rehab, backup Jarrett Stidham remains the team’s starter. The Broncos also integrated new wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, acquired in a trade with Miami, into the offense. Waddle praised his chemistry with fellow receiver Courtland Sutton and expressed confidence about working with Nix once the quarterback is fully cleared. Additionally, cornerback Pat Surtain II received a $5 million raise under his new contract extension.

The Broncos aim to build offensive cohesion during the offseason ahead of a challenging six‑game opening stretch.
