Denver Broncos sign cornerback Sam Webb after rookie Blake Cotton injury

The Denver Broncos added cornerback Sam Webb after rookie defensive back Blake Cotton suffered a practice injury. Cotton, an undrafted free agent, missed a workout following a Wednesday practice injury and may be waived with a settlement.

Webb, 28, has previously spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders, Carolina Panthers, Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns. He has appeared in 36 NFL games with five starts, recording 45 combined tackles, four pass deflections, one forced fumble and a fumble‑return touchdown. The Broncos signed him following a tryout on Thursday, indicating they are seeking depth in a secondary that already includes All‑Pro Patrick Surtain and other young receivers.

The move highlights the team's roster adjustments early in training camp as they address the injury to Blake Cotton and evaluate Webb's fit in a competitive cornerback group.
