Denver named finalist for 2028 Democratic National Convention

Denver has emerged as one of three finalists to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention. The city is competing against Boston and Philadelphia for the honor, with a final decision expected from the Democratic National Committee later this year.

If selected, the convention would return to Denver for the first time since 2008, when Barack Obama accepted the party's presidential nomination. Local officials, including Mayor Mike Johnston and Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib, have emphasized the city's improved transit, upgraded venues like Ball Arena, and robust hospitality infrastructure as key advantages.

Projections suggest that hosting the event, scheduled for August 7 to 10, 2028, could generate over $400 million in economic activity for local businesses, hotels, and restaurants.
