Denver Nuggets defeat Phoenix Suns 127-120 in NBA Cup

The Denver Nuggets defeated the Phoenix Suns 127-120 during an NBA Cup group stage game in Phoenix. Jamal Murray led the Nuggets with 39 points, including 7 of 9 from three-point range, while Christian Braun contributed 31 points. Nikola Jokic recorded 18 points and 10 assists.

During the third quarter, Suns forward Dillon Brooks was ejected after officials reviewed a play and assessed him a Flagrant 2 foul. The ruling followed contact where Brooks’ leg struck Jamal Murray in the groin area while Brooks was attempting a jump shot. Prior to his ejection, Brooks had scored 22 points.

Following the game, Suns players and coach Jordan Ott expressed disagreement with the ejection. Miles Bridges suggested that Brooks’ reputation as a league “villain” may have influenced the officials, while Murray stated he did not believe the contact was intentional.
