Denver Nuggets explore roster changes after first‑round exit

The Denver Nuggets were eliminated in the first round of the NBA playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves, ending a season hindered by injuries to key players including Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon, Christian Braun, Cam Johnson, Peyton Watson and Jonas Valanciunas.

NBA insider Marc Stein reported that the Nuggets are weighing trade options to gain financial flexibility. While Aaron Gordon has attracted the most external interest, the organization prefers to move Christian Braun, whose contract and recent performance present challenges for a direct swap. The team also aims to retain 23‑year‑old guard Peyton Watson on a three‑year extension, though a trade could be considered if it yields assets.

Portland Trail Blazers have been identified as a potential destination for Gordon, offering a possible frontcourt upgrade. The Nuggets’ strategy centers on reshaping the roster while preserving core pieces such as Jokic and addressing salary‑cap concerns ahead of the next season.
