Denver Nuggets waive veteran guard Lonnie Walker IV

The Denver Nuggets have waived veteran guard Lonnie Walker IV following an underwhelming preseason performance. Walker, 27, had joined the team on a non-guaranteed training camp contract in an attempt to secure a spot on the final roster after spending the previous two seasons playing in the EuroLeague for Zalgiris Kaunas and Maccabi Tel Aviv.

During his preseason stint with Denver, Walker appeared in limited minutes, recording only four total points across two games. The decision to release him comes as the Nuggets prioritize other players on two-way contracts, such as Cam Whitmore, for their guard rotation.

Walker’s future may lie in Europe. He recently signed with the agency BeoBasket, led by Misko Raznatovic. Additionally, reports indicate that Turkish club Beşiktaş has made an offer to bring the former first-round pick back to the EuroLeague.
