Denver Summit defeats Gotham FC 3-0 to snap unbeaten streak

The Denver Summit defeated Gotham FC 3-0 at Centennial Stadium, snapping Gotham’s 10-match unbeaten streak. The victory marks the second time this season the expansion side has beaten the league leaders, a feat not achieved by an expansion team against defending champions since 2022.

After a scoreless first half, Yuzuki Yamamoto opened the scoring in the 50th minute with a volley assisted by Ayo Oke. Denver extended the lead in the 82nd minute through rookie Olivia Thomas, followed by a final goal from Yazmeen Ryan in the 88th minute. Denver goalkeeper Kat Asman contributed significantly to the shutout with four key saves.

Despite the loss, Gotham FC remains at the top of the National Women's Soccer League standings with 45 points, maintaining a two-point lead over the Washington Spirit. The win moves Denver closer to the playoff race, sitting within two points of the final postseason spot.
