Denza expands into Europe with Bao 05 off-road SUV

Denza, a premium brand under the BYD umbrella, is expanding its presence in Europe with the introduction of the Bao 05, a rugged plug-in hybrid SUV. The vehicle features a traditional ladder-frame chassis and a boxy design aimed at the off-road market.

In the UK, Denza has announced specifications for two trims, Elegance and Ultimate, with deliveries expected to begin in early 2027. The Bao 05 utilizes a Dual Mode Off-road (DMO) system, combining a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with dual electric motors to produce a total system output of 544 hp and 760 Nm of torque. The vehicle is notable for its size, comparable to the Toyota Land Cruiser 250, and its high-tech interior which includes a 15.6-inch infotainment screen and a Devialet sound system.

In Austria, the Bao 05 is also slated for arrival, likely in the first quarter of 2027. It offers an electric range of approximately 90 km and is positioned as a high-performance alternative in the growing segment of Chinese-manufactured off-road style SUVs.
