Denza to launch more affordable Z9 GT luxury EV in China

BYD’s luxury brand, Denza, is set to launch a more affordable version of its Z9 GT electric vehicle on September 9. The new Z9 GT e3 premium edition is positioned below the existing e3 performance trim, with a starting price of approximately 329,800 yuan (about $49,000–$50,000).

Despite the lower price point, the vehicle maintains high performance through a tri-motor setup, delivering a combined output of approximately 770kW to 850kW (roughly 1,032 to 1,140 horsepower). This configuration allows for a 0 to 100km/h acceleration time of approximately 2.8 seconds. The model features BYD’s Blade Battery 2.0, providing a CLTC range of up to 860 kilometers, which exceeds the range of the more expensive performance version.

To achieve the lower price, some specifications have been adjusted, such as replacing carbon-ceramic brakes with cast iron brakes. The vehicle continues to include the ‘DiSus-A’ dual-chamber air suspension and the ‘天神之眼 5.0’ (God's Eye 5.0) driving assistance system. Denza General Manager Li Hui noted that the Z9 GT has led China’s luxury GT segment for several consecutive months.
