Deolane Bezerra denied special prison cell by São Paulo court
The Tribunal de Justiça de São Paulo unanimously rejected the defence's request to transfer influencer and lawyer Deolane Bezerra to a Sala de Estado‑Maior. Bezerra, detained under preventive custody since May 21 in the Penitenciária de Tupi Paulista, is being investigated in Operation Vérnix for alleged financial links to the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC).
The court held that she has no subjective right to a special cell or automatic conversion of preventive detention to house arrest, noting that her OAB membership has been suspended, which precludes the privilege. While she remains in a special pavilion with enhanced amenities, the decision upholds her preventive detention as investigations continue. Her lawyers said they will appeal the ruling.
