Deolane Bezerra suspended by OAB‑SP; court denies her habeas corpus

Influencer and lawyer Deolane Bezerra has been detained preventively in the Penitenciária Feminina de Tupi Paulista since 21 May. She is accused of laundering money and of involvement with the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) as part of the police operation known as "Operação Vérnix". The investigation alleges she acted as a financial conduit for the criminal faction.

The Tribunal de Justiça de São Paulo (TJ‑SP) has rejected several habeas corpus petitions filed on her behalf, keeping her in custody and refusing requests for transfer to a special "Sala de Estado‑Maior" for lawyers. The court’s decisions cite continued risk of flight and the seriousness of the alleged organized‑crime scheme.

Separately, the Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil – Seção São Paulo (OAB‑SP) has imposed a preventive suspension of Deolane’s professional registration. The suspension, effective immediately, lasts an initial 90 days and may be extended up to 360 days while a disciplinary proceeding runs in the OAB’s Tribunal de Ética e Disciplina. The OAB said the measure protects lawyer prerogatives and applies the ethical code, while critics – including Deolane’s sister – argue the process lacks due procedural safeguards.
