Deolane Bezerra's imprisonment prompts daughter’s emotional plea

Valentina Bezerra, the 10‑year‑old daughter of Brazilian influencer Deolane Bezerra, posted a message on a mirror that read, “Mãe, enquanto você está aí, eu não consigo viver normalmente. Só sei que te amo muito,” which was shared on Instagram by her grandmother Solange Bezerra.

Deolane Bezerra has been detained since 21 May as part of Operation Vernix, an investigation by the São Paulo Public Ministry and the state police that alleges she participated in a scheme to hide assets for the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) criminal organization. The São Paulo Court of Justice rejected a habeas corpus request aimed at moving her to a cell meeting lawyers’ statutory privileges, despite the OAB’s inspections indicating the current cell does not comply with legal standards. Her lawyers say they will continue to appeal the decision.
