Deoleo reports olive‑oil market stabilises after 2022‑24 price crisis

Deoleo, the world's largest olive‑oil producer, announced that the extreme volatility that hit the sector between 2022 and 2024 has ended. Favorable rainfall in Spain and other key producing countries has improved prospects for a solid harvest, allowing global supply to rebalance.

Wholesale prices have fallen sharply from a record €9.3 per kilogram in January 2024 to roughly €3.9 per kilogram today, giving producers, distributors and retailers greater price predictability. The company expects the steadier supply to support a rebound in household consumption, especially in the United States where sales are bolstered by the introduction of squeeze‑type bottles that now account for about 40 % of category growth.

Analysts caution that the market remains vulnerable to climate‑related risks such as drought, heatwaves, pests and diseases, which could cause future fluctuations in production and prices.
