Deoleo says olive oil market steadies, prices drop and US demand climbs

Deoleo, the world’s largest olive‑oil producer, says the severe market cycle that lasted from 2022 to 2024 is now over. CEO Cristóbal Valdés attributes the turn to better weather in key producing regions, especially Spain, which has boosted global supply for the upcoming harvest.

Spanish retail prices have fallen sharply, from about €9.3 per kilogram in January 2024 to around €4 per kilogram, improving price stability and predictability. In the United States, demand is rising as more households purchase olive oil, aided by innovative packaging such as flexible squeeze bottles that now account for roughly 40 % of category growth. Deoleo reports higher volume sales and a broader consumer base across income levels, signalling a more balanced market outlook.

The company also notes that while analysts still warn of climate‑related risks, the current conditions provide a more secure supply chain and a favourable environment for continued growth.
