Depeche Mode legacy connects music history and art

The artistic journey of painter Jeroni Marqués Sánchez is deeply connected to the legacy of the band Depeche Mode. Marqués, a post-impressionist known for his depictions of Menorca, traces his inspiration back to age 19, when he painted the rose from the cover of the album ‘Violator’ on his motorcycle helmet.

Separately, the musical history of Depeche Mode is marked by the 45th anniversary of their debut album, ‘Speak & Spell’. Released in October 1981, the album featured early hits such as ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ and was primarily composed by Vince Clarke. Recorded at Blackwing Studios in London, the album utilized various synthesizers, including the Yamaha CS-5 and Moog Prodigy, to establish the band's electronic sound.
