Depok assault: Woman accused of burning teenage girl

New details have emerged regarding the case of a 17-year-old girl, LA, who was burned in Bojongsari, Depok. Legal counsel for the victim, Ishaq Maulana Ismail, clarified that the suspect, identified as M, is not the victim's biological grandmother but is actually the wife of the biological grandmother's brother. Due to living in the same household, the suspect was commonly referred to as the grandmother by neighbors.

The incident occurred on October 26, 2026, after the victim allegedly failed to pick up the suspect from a friend's house. The victim sustained burns covering approximately 80 percent of her body and was reported to be in a coma. Witnesses and neighbors described the suspect as having a temperamental character and being frequently involved in disputes with local residents.

Police have confirmed the suspect's relationship to the victim and are continuing the investigation. The victim's family has stated they will not withdraw their police report.
