Depok woman arrested for burning granddaughter with kerosene

A 64-year-old woman, identified by the initial M, has been arrested in Bojongsari, Depok, for allegedly setting her 17-year-old granddaughter, LA, on fire. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon after the suspect became enraged because the victim failed to pick her up from a friend's house, forcing the suspect to walk one kilometer home.

According to Depok Metro Police, the suspect confronted the victim, who was using a mobile phone at the time. The suspect then allegedly poured kerosene on the victim and ignited it. While the suspect initially claimed the injuries were caused by an exploding stove, police investigations revealed the use of kerosene.

The victim sustained burns covering approximately 80 percent of her body and is currently receiving medical treatment at Fatmawati Hospital in Jakarta. The suspect has been named a suspect in cases of domestic violence and child abuse.
