Deportes Concepción adds five new players as it fights to stay in Chile's top division

Chilean Primera División side Deportes Concepción has overhauled its roster for the second half of the season under new coach Fernando “Nano” Díaz. After a shaky start that saw the club near the relegation zone, tactical changes have lifted the team out of danger, with an upcoming match against O'Higgins marking the first test of the revamped squad.

The winter transfer window brought a wave of departures, including Paraguayan midfielder Jonathan Espínola, Argentine forward Ángel Gillard (who moved to Romania), and several local players such as Cristián Suárez and Leonardo Valencia. In return, the club introduced five signings: midfielder Fernando Martínez, left‑back Cristian Riquelme from Colo‑Colo, winger Joaquín Montecinos, and Paraguayan striker Diego Acosta, among others. The new arrivals aim to reinforce the midfield, defense, and attack as the team strives to secure its place in the league.
