Deportes Temuco signs veteran defender Luis Casanova as club parts ways with coach Arturo Sanhueza

Deportes Temuco announced the signing of former captain Luis Casanova, a 34‑year‑old central defender who previously played for the club and the Chile national team. The move comes after the abrupt departure of forward Maximiliano Cuadra, leaving a roster spot that Casanova will fill as the team seeks to stabilise its defence in the Primera B.

Just days earlier, the club terminated the contract of head coach Héctor Arturo Sanhueza following a 4‑1 defeat to Deportes Copiapó. Interim duties have been taken over by former player Sebastián Domínguez while the board evaluates permanent replacements. Among the candidates is experienced manager Emiliano Astorga, who recently left Puerto Montt and is reportedly close to signing with Temuco.

The combined personnel changes aim to improve Temuco’s position in the league, where the team sits in the mid‑table with hopes of challenging for a playoff spot.
