Deportes Melipilla expelled from amateur football tournament

Deportes Melipilla has been expelled from the Campeonato Provincial de Selecciones de Honor, an amateur football tournament, by the Metropolitan National Rural Football Federation (Fenafur). The decision follows violations of articles 9 and 13 of the tournament regulations.

The expulsion was triggered by two specific infractions: the participation of a player using an expired identity card during the third matchday, and the repeated use of a player who was ineligible due to a standing suspension from another association. The latter player reportedly participated in three matches for the club.

As a result of the disqualification, the tournament standings have been modified, allowing the Mallarauco selection to advance to the semifinals in Group B. The club, which is already facing institutional and financial crises following its descent and the refusal of ANFA to accept it into the Third Division A, has publicly criticized the decision, alleging a lack of transparency from the organizing body.
