Deportes Santa Cruz faces relegation pressure ahead of Iquique match

Deportes Santa Cruz is currently struggling in the Chilean Liga de Ascenso, facing a difficult battle to avoid relegation. Following a 1-1 draw against Unión Española, striker Matías Pinto called for self-criticism from both the players and the coaching staff.

Pinto emphasized the responsibility players hold toward the club's supporters and workers, noting that while players may move on to new teams, the community remains. He also reflected on the pressures of professional football, comparing the stress of the competition to the daily economic struggles of families living on limited incomes.

In their next fixture, Deportes Santa Cruz will travel to face Deportes Iquique on Wednesday, September 8, at the Estadio Tierra de Campeones. Santa Cruz currently sits in 15th place with 18 points, while Deportes Iquique occupies 12th place with 25 points.
