Deportes Temuco coach Arturo Sanhueza protests VAR delay in Chile's Primera B

Arturo Sanhueza, the head coach of Deportes Temuco, said the video‑assistant referee (VAR) system will not be available in Chile's Primera B until the 19th matchday of the season. He argued that the postponement creates uncertainty for his team and other clubs, and that the technology should have been in place from the first round.

Sanhueza referenced a controversial incident involving Luis Acevedo in a match against Deportes Iquique that could have been reviewed with VAR. He warned that without the system, decisions on penalties or expulsions may be contested, putting teams at a competitive disadvantage. The coach’s comments have added to growing criticism among Primera B teams over the delayed rollout of VAR.

The issue is sparking debate within the league about fairness and the need for consistent officiating standards across all clubs.
