Deportivo de La Coruña signs goalkeeper Leo Román for €9 million

Deportivo de La Coruña triggered a €9 million release clause to acquire Mallorca goalkeeper Leo Román, making it one of the most expensive signings by a newly‑promoted La Liga side in the past three decades. The club indicated that the transfer is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the squad after promotion, having already generated €27 million from four player sales.

The acquisition follows Deportivo’s aggressive market approach: the club has secured the immediate services of Román and is close to signing midfielder Lorenzo Amatucci from Fiorentina and defender Domingos Duarte, who left Getafe on a free. These moves aim to improve the team’s competitiveness and increase its attractiveness to other players as it seeks to establish itself in the top division.
