Deportivo La Coruña secures promotion to Spain's La Liga after eight‑year absence

Deportivo La Coruña earned promotion to the Spanish top flight by beating Real Valladolid 2‑0 on Sunday, with both goals scored by Cameroonian forward Bil Nsongo. The victory secured one of the two automatic promotion spots from the Segunda División, ending an eight‑year spell outside La Liga.

The club joins fellow promoter Racing Santander, while the third‑place slot will be contested in a playoff among Almería, Málaga, Las Palmas and Castellón. Deportivo had previously spent 20 consecutive seasons in the top tier before relegations in 2010‑11, 2013 and 2018, and fell to the third tier in 2020 before returning to the second division in 2024.
