Deputación de Ourense approves reading plan and municipal subsidies

The Deputación de Ourense has approved several funding measures and initiatives, including the launch of the second Provincial Reading Plan with a budget of 350,000 euros. This program aims to promote reading habits among youth born in 2008 or later who are registered in the province. Beneficiaries can purchase one book, up to a maximum cost of 20 euros, between October 15 and December 18, excluding textbooks and school materials.

Additionally, the governing board approved 21 subsidies for 17 local entities, totaling over 833,550 euros. These funds are designated for basic infrastructure, such as sanitation, water supply, communications, sports spaces, and emergency services. Notable recipients include O Barco de Valdeorras and Pereiro de Aguiar, which will each receive 40,000 euros to support their Supramunicipal Emergency Groups (GES).

The board also granted 35,000 euros to the Federación Galega de Piragüismo to support national, regional, and provincial championships for the 2025-2026 season.
