Deputy Director María José Hernández Mora withdraws from IVC cultural technician selection amid conflict-of-interest out
María José Hernández Mora, deputy director of the Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC), announced she is withdrawing her candidacy for two technical cultural‑management positions (posts 268 and 276) after criticism that her participation created a conflict of interest. The PSPV described the episode as having "clear political and ethical gravity," arguing that one cannot be both a judge and a candidate.
Sector bodies, including the Association of Valencian Distributors of Performing Arts and Music and other arts‑sector groups, expressed indignation, calling the situation a "conflict of interest" and urging Mora to resign from her directorial role if she wishes to compete. The IVC’s selection process, opened in December 2025 for 19 posts, had attracted scrutiny over the deputy director’s involvement in the tribunal overseeing the competition.
