Deputy Esteban Bautista calls for INE investigation
Esteban Bautista Hernández, president of the Political Coordination Board in the Veracruz State Congress and leader of the Morena caucus, has called for a thorough investigation into the National Electoral Institute (INE). Bautista emphasized that the probe should address both past and present administrations to ensure transparency and accountability.
The legislator addressed allegations linking former counselor Guadalupe Taddei to the Morena party, describing such claims as “scavenging” by the opposition. He noted that Taddei reached her position through insaculation, a mechanism used by the Chamber of Deputies when a qualified majority is not reached. Bautista stated that justice must be applied to any responsible party, including businessman José Alfredo Hernández Casillas, if evidence warrants it.
Bautista also criticized previous management, citing a case under Lorenzo Córdova involving high costs for vehicle rentals through Jet Van. He asserted that under President Claudia Sheinbaum, decisions are being made based on public demand rather than the interests of elite circles.
