Deputy Fedrha Suriano proposes new safety regulations for adventure tourism

Deputy Fedrha Isabel Suriano Corrales has introduced a legislative initiative aimed at strengthening safety in nature and adventure tourism services. The proposal seeks to reform the State Tourism Law and add article 345 bis to the State Penal Code.

Under the proposal, the Secretariat of Tourism would have the authority to suspend or revoke permits if providers fail to comply with established conditions, legal obligations, or safety measures issued by competent authorities. Service providers would also be legally required to cease operations if a restriction, suspension, or closure is issued by civil protection or security authorities.

The initiative includes criminal penalties for those who organize, direct, or intermediate nature or adventure tourism activities without proper authorization or certification if such actions endanger the lives of one or more people. Such offenses could result in prison sentences ranging from one to two years.
