Deputy Jorge Soto Defends Poniente 5 Project in Chihuahua

PAN deputy Jorge Soto released a video on social media to counter accusations made by Morena deputy Cuauhtémoc Estrada. Soto argued that the Poniente 5 highway, a long‑planned public‑works project intended to divert about 4,000 daily trips from the Periférico de la Juventud, is necessary and has been included in municipal and state plans for over three decades.

He disputed claims about land ownership, municipal payroll, waste‑collection costs, patrol vehicle purchases, lighting expenses and municipal debt, asserting that the data presented by Estrada and Juárez mayor Cruz Pérez are misleading. Soto also noted that the landfill project is stalled due to a pending Banobras approval, not a lack of planning, and accused Morena of obstructing development.

The deputy concluded that Chihuahua needs the Poniente 5 project to proceed, not political “curtains of smoke.”
